A hidden gem in the Outer Sunset. I like coming here with someone on a lazy day. Coffee drinks are all excellent but the toast is amazing. I always get two for myself; one peanut butter honey and one brown sugar and butter. They have always been friendly to me every time I've gone there.
Stopped in here yesterday for an Iced Dirty Chai latte. Really great conversation with the barista and a general good vibe. The iced latte was perfect on a hot day. It's not the kind of place I can get any work done, but that's ok since its closer to the beach. I liked the little benches outside to chill for a bit. Coffees were around $4-8, about standard for sf.
This place we all loved, it was small inside and they managed to make it comfortable and not feel crowded . They three men in there were so awesome and friendly. They vibe and environment was fantastic. I let them suggest a coffee. For us and the one he picked was great. The fresh French bread avocado toast was the bomb. The Bandai bread had chocolate chips in it and was so delicious one suggestion would to be to serve it warmed it would compliment the coffee better. The iced lattes was flavorful and wasn't overdone. They had a whole seating area outside their Coffee shop and I really enjoy the names and coffee sleeves word of wisdom. Lol. I would definitely recommend this place . Stop in. It's worth it. Don't get discouraged with the group or crowd outside they young men move fast and work perfectly with each other they really have it figured out . Oh yes one more thing their signature sugar cinnamon toast is so perfect . Honestly I need this in my life sad I don't live there. Amazing my favorite thing I'll miss that toast .
I was waiting to eat at Outerlands, and the wait was predicted to be 1 to 1 1/2 hours, so we went to get some coffee and a little snack so that we wouldn't starve. I usually go to Andytown but the wait was too long, so I went to Trouble Coffee instead. The line was still long, but I was very happy to try a new place. I got a latte and a peanut butter banana toast. They were both delicious! It was the best latte that I have had in awhile. And I was so impressed by their toast that I bought peanut butter, bananas, honey, and toast to make it at home for the week. My own version of it is not as good as theirs, but I am so happy that they introduced me to this fantastic combo. Too bad they don't have decaf coffee. Other reviewers said that their service is bad, but luckily I didn't encounter that. Once again, that peanut butter banana toast was excellent. Wow.
Trouble coffee is the absolute best. I think negative reviewers may not understand the ethos of the store. 1- order the cinnamon toast. do not pass on this. 2- coffee here is simultaneously bright and rich. 3- it's the outer sunset. the beach is 4 blocks away. perhaps don't come searching for ritzy concierge level customer service. order your high quality toast and coffee and enjoy a small business that does things right 4- check out the owners feature on This American Life podcast (episode 520). It may help you navigate life with more empathy and belief in the human spirit 5- lavender earl grey latte is also lovely
Extremely impressed! I was skeptical when they told me they only used one type of specific dark bean roast but it was a local recommendation to come here. I fancy myself somewhat of an actual coffee connoisseur, I miss my coffee maker when I go on vacation with my standard locally fresh roasted beans that are ground only as the coffee is made everyday. I ordered what they recommended as their specialty which I believe was a cappuccino? Some toast and an extra shot of espresso just so I could really check out the roast without milk. I was blown away, I have never had coffee or espresso like that before. Beautifully balanced, with lovely notes of fruit that I have never tasted in espresso before. Absolutely incredible experience! The lady working was extremely friendly as well. Definitely will recommend to my friends in the area and come back when I am around as well. I just want to know their secrets, I think they may have turned me to the dark side if only I can buy their beans!!
Always one of my fav coffee places in the city. Love the shop, ambiance, decorations, the friendliness of stuffs, their music and definitely THEIR COFFEE! I always ordered the Cafe Latte, small cup, double shots, STRONG AND BOLD! Love it! Also recommended to try their Grapefruit yogurt drink! If you wanted a deep cleanse of your stomach, drink this plus a cup of coffee. Then get ready for the toilet business! ;) Cheers!
Came in on a Thursday morning around 8:30am. There was no line. I walked by it the day before around the same time, and the line was pretty long. I ordered a mocha. The drink was good. I liked the taste of their coffee, not acidic. However it was just a bit too sweet for me. I'd definitely come back again whenever the line isn't too long, and I'm not rushing to be anywhere. Service was good. The owner was nice, and the cashier in the front was friendly. I just walked up to the entrance and ordered. I didn't see a menu anywhere, but that didn't matter much to me since I looked up the menu on Yelp beforehand. Limited seating outside the store. Overall, a solid place to get good coffee.
